Gothic Light.

Rachel Whiteread is becoming one of the artists that I admire most. Every time I look at a new aspect of her work, whether it be drawing or sculpture, her aesthetic and motives inspire me. This piece, 'Untitiled' 2005, is a photograph of the interior of a Gothic space. She has punched out holes to appear as spheres of light on the 2 dimensional image but then extends the work making light play a part. When the image is positioned in front of light itself, the light will push forward through the image similar to that of the light rays in a Gothic interior.
