Le Marché St. George

This amazing little cafe and corner store is, well, amazing. I can't get enough of it, not only are their almond croissants and lattes amazing, but the people, the atmosphere, and the space! Oh my! The way they have put the space together is just stunning. Beautiful wallpapers grace the walls and local products man the shelves. Located at 4393 St. George at the corner of 28th, it is a must.
All of the images are from marchestgeorge.com and the lovely ceramics are by Janaki Larsen, janakilarsen.com.

Lovers in a Dangerous Time.

These beautiful photographs by artist, Huang Xu, create a haunting approach to the critical effect of the world's waste. Taken from some of China's garbage dumps, Xu, arranges plastic bags into forms of delicacy and stillness.

Masks.

I was gawking at juliemorstad.com again and I found this piece that I haven't seen before. It's like she sees in stories.  Her images have this amazing relationship between having a childlike fantasy and at the same time involving mature themes. As I was thinking about this, I realized that, really, where is the line that defines a theme that is only appreciated by a blooming mind and one analyzed by a adult one? Why should we look at our lives in any other way than one that inspires beauty in simplicity and imagination?
She's so rad.

Found.

Okay, so I found the artist that did the 'Spring Chickens' poster! Her name is Lis Timpone and she is amazing! Her illustrations are full of beautiful patterning and lovely imagery.

Gothic Light.

Rachel Whiteread is becoming one of the artists that I admire most. Every time I look at a new aspect of her work, whether it be drawing or sculpture, her aesthetic and motives inspire me. This piece, 'Untitiled' 2005, is a photograph of the interior of a Gothic space. She has punched out holes to appear as spheres of light on the 2 dimensional image but then extends the work making light play a part. When the image is positioned in front of light itself, the light will push forward through the image similar to that of the light rays in a Gothic interior.

Spring Chickens.

I just love that typography, it's beautiful. My goal now is to find out who the artist it.
